NHS Dental Services
You’ll be entitled to free dental treatment if you:
- Are under the age of 26
- Expecting a baby
- Had a baby in the last 12 months
- Have a valid HC2 certificate
You may be entitled to the HC2 exemption if you receive a very low income, and you or your partner receive:
- Income based job seekers allowance
- Income related employment support allowance
- Income Support
- Valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate
If you do not receive any of the above exemptions then you are entitled to pay for your NHS dental treatment.
What treatment can I have under the NHS?
The NHS covers clinically necessary treatments. These include:
- Yearly exams
- Radiographs
- Amalgam fillings
- Scale and Polish
- White fillings on front teeth
- Crowns/Bridges
- Veneers
- Root Canal Treatment
- Extractions
- Dentures
What treatment am I not allowed under the NHS?
Dental treatment considered as cosmetic work is not covered under the NHS. Treatments such as:
- White fillings on back teeth
- All porcelain crown & bridges
- Orthodontic treatment
- Tooth whitening
